Tinubu Speaks on Fee Hike in Nigeria Universities
President Bola Tinubu has warned universities against tyrannical increases in fees payable by students.
He also said that the growth has stopped some Nigerian youths from being able to attend tertiary education in Nigeria.
The President promised that his administration would make sure that universities in the country have a stable and steady academic calendar.
President Bola Tinubu has issued a strict warning to authorities of public universities in Nigeria against the tyrannical increase in various fees payable by Nigerian students.
He said that the practice is unhealthy and stated that it has had a negative impact on the growth and development of tertiary education in the country. He further said that it has made many poor youths stop tertiary education in the country.
President Bola Tinubu Promises Stable Academic Calendar in Nigeria Universities
President Tinubu guaranteed Nigerians that his administration would work toward a stable and steady academic calendar in the country’s tertiary institutions while encouraging the 14,866 first-degree graduates of the University of Uyo (UNIUYO) to be the country’s good ambassador.
He encouraged them to extol their talents in rehabilitating the dying economy of the country.
At the combined convocation of the UNIUYO, Tinubu was represented by Yusuf Sununu, the minister of state for education.
Tinubu Discloses Plan to Improve Universities Standards
Tinubu disclosed that his administration had put machinery in place to make sure that the University played its role in teaching, researching, and manpower development through the modernization of the quality and standards of education in all institutions in the country.
